How To Clean A Porcelain Patio Professionally

April 22, 2026 by Phil O'Neill

We recently visited a customer’s home in Stourton near Wollaston, Stourbridge, to tackle a challenging outdoor area restoration which involved a decking and patio cleaning.

The Project: A Tricky Porcelain Patio

As you can see from the image above, the customer’s patio featured two slightly different coloured porcelain tiles that had been laid for a few years. The customer had stated that they’d been having problems cleaning these effectively themselves.

As part of the brief, we were also tasked with cleaning their outdoor decking area and all of the Cotswold stone raised planting areas.

The Prep: Protecting Drains & Brush-in Grout

Before we even began the cleaning process, our first priority was to clear all the drains to ensure the water would get away efficiently. A key consideration when it comes to porcelain patios is that you can’t just blast them with water. This is because of the brush-in grout, which, without extra care, can easily become dislodged by high-pressure cleaning.

The Process: A Safe Chemical Deep Clean

To safely lift the dirt, we started by treating the whole surface area with a chemical deep clean. We allowed the chemicals to rest on the surface for a 15 to 20-minute dwell time. This releases the deep, ingrained grime and allows us to use a high water flow with low-to-medium pressure.

As you can see in the video, this method lets us effectively remove the dirt without damaging the tiles or the grout. We use slow movements with a rinse-down blade nozzle to gently wash the surface clean.

The Details: Spot Treatments & Final Rinse

After all the surfaces were cleaned and rinsed, we examined the whole area to spot-treat any specific patches of organic staining that the first clean didn’t quite catch.

Once we were happy that we achieved the quality clean we were looking for, we gave the entire area one final rinse.

The Result: A 5-Star Finish

The customer was thrilled with our results, leaving us a fantastic 5-star Google review. They also explained to us while we were on site that they had several people come round to quote the job. They told us we were by far the most professional and knowledgeable, which was a really nice compliment to finish the job on!
