The Situation
We were brought in to tackle the block-paved walkways, clubhouse approaches, and covered paths at a high-end golf club.

In a setting like this, the paving sees heavy, constant foot traffic from players, staff, and visitors. Over time, the surface had become heavily soiled with embedded dirt and organic growth. Not only did this drag down the appearance of the club, but it also created a genuine safety issue: dirty clay pavers become incredibly slick when wet.
The Challenge: Working Around the Game
This wasn’t a standard “blast it and leave” job. The biggest hurdle wasn’t the dirt—it was the environment.
We had to maintain continuous pedestrian access for golfers throughout the day. We couldn’t just tape off the whole entrance and shut down operations. Additionally, we were working with clay block paving, which is unforgiving; if you clean it aggressively or leave it wet without managing the flow of people, you turn a walkway into an ice rink.
We needed to clean narrow paths and bottlenecks (like covered walkways) without disrupting play, blocking mobility access, or disturbing the club’s professional atmosphere.
Our Approach

The strategy here was all about “Phased Control”. We broke the site down into manageable sections rather than treating it as one large area.
- Rolling Access: We cleaned one section at a time, using clear signage and barriers to route foot traffic through dry, safe alternatives. This ensured golfers could move freely without tracking dirt or slipping.
- Precision Cleaning: We managed our pressure levels carefully. The goal was to remove the grime without damaging the surface of the clay blocks.
- Grip Management: We constantly monitored the surface grip during the clean. Covered walkways and entrances were treated with extra caution, as these are high-risk slip zones.
The Outcome

The difference was night and day. We restored a uniformly clean, revitalised finish across the entire site, significantly lifting the look of the clubhouse approach.
Most importantly, we eliminated the slip hazards. The walkways are now safe for use in wet conditions. The management team and the club professionals were particularly pleased that we achieved this with zero disruption to their operations—players arrived, played, and left without ever being inconvenienced by the work.
It was a perfect example of how exterior cleaning in a high-traffic environment is less about brute force and more about understanding how people use the space.
