The Project

We got a call from a customer who required driveway cleaning in Hagley. Their driveway was looking a bit tired, to say the least. It was tumbled concrete block paving—a great-looking surface, but because it’s so porous, it acts like a sponge for dirt and grime. Over the years, the blocks had dulled down, and the staining had really locked itself into the surface and the joints.
How We Tackled It

We didn’t just jump straight in with the pressure washer. After checking the condition of the blocks, we applied a specialist cleaning solution first. We let that sit for about 20 minutes to break down the grime and loosen up the stubborn stains.
Once the chemicals had done the heavy lifting, we went over the whole area with our flat surface cleaner. This allows us to get a deep, even clean without risking damage to the blocks or leaving those unsightly “stripe” marks you sometimes see with DIY pressure washing. A final rinse cleared away the debris.
The Finish

Cleaning pulls out the old dirty sand, so once the drive was dry, we swept in fresh kiln-dried sand. This is a crucial step to lock the blocks back in place and give it that “just laid” look.
The Verdict
The difference was night and day. The dark stains are gone, and the natural colours of the concrete are popping again. Best of all, the customer is over the moon with the transformation and has already told us they’ll be recommending us to friends.
